Who's a good owner?

I think we are all agreed that our two owners are slimeballs. But if we look at the Premier League which club has a good owner?

Some clubs just have owners who are just very rich. Abramaovich, the Man City lot. No one really knows much about them and they exercise control by signing cheques and hiring and firing managers. Then we have the local lads made good, Peter Coates at Stoke, the Crystal Palace blokes and Dean Hoyle at Hudderfield Town.

A third category would be wankers like Mike Ashley and although he is more reprehensible than our lot sometimes they are not far off.

So, who out there is a model owner the kind we would like at West Ham?

93, it's Man City because their fans truly have very little to moan about if at all.

Why, because it's about the quality of the football team and nothing else.It's out of our reach for certain but the bumming up of the running of Spurs on here doesn't factor in that when most of us meet a Spurs fan unless they have got a good result they moan like fuck, and it's because they were through the late 70's & 80's a club that laid out the wedge to get a couple of top, top players in.Now they've all turned into amateur accountants because they've been blown away by the Ruskie & Arab ownerships who are willing to just spend.It must be frustrating for Spurs fans though as they know full well their owners could easily match the spending they just don't want to which obviously is a relief to our sanity.

The only reason i'd want a rich owner willing to pay the way of modern football is because i was lucky enough to see the likes of Brooking, Devonshire and Bonds and in todays game NONE of them would be here for as long as they was and you need to buy a team worthy of them to keep them and that i'm afraid costs a FORTUNE and has to be maintained until you've got the surplus to sell for a fortune to fund the next big signing.

My mate has supported Wolves since our schooldays, about 50 years ago

They have had a succession of very tight-arsed owners until their recent takeover

Their current owners have bought very wisely, acquiring many good players for little outlay & appointing a superb manager that nobody had previously heard of

Not only that but the football they're playing is an absolute pleasure to watch

They are going to walk the championship & no doubt be a force to be reckoned with in the EPL next season

Telling that hardly anyone can confidently say another teams owners other than City purely because they have money.

Will we find something to moan about regardless of what owners we have? (Not defending our current mob in any way, they truly have taken the club to a place which has not stuck to it's roots and are in general a laughing stock).

You have to admire Spurs value for money efforts but at the end of the Man City will win the trophies.
The Man City bloke says nothing but just gets the best manager in the world , gives him all the money he needs for the best players and then lets him get on with it.

That's my point: I'm not sure they'll ever be willing to spend the sort of money required to consistently compete with the top clubs for trophies, notably on wages.

It depends, look at Man Utd, many years ago nearly lost Keane to Lazio as they didn't want to break their 25k per week wage structure. Quite often were outspent in the market by the new band of foreign owners. They realise they had to spend to get back to where they were, and Spurs will realise that they have to compete in the transfer market if they really do want to win anything. I suppose Levy is just trying to be a good businessman, but sooner or later they'll need to spend, I would imagine that time may come after their new stadium is completed.

Our owners should take note. They obviously won't though.

You know when a sport has gone to shit when the business side is more highly regarded over the actual achievement on the pitch.

Spurs are fucking fantastic on the business side but have won nothing major yet and their trophy cabinet is not far off how ours looks.Like some have said with good business comes limitations and theirs is their ceiling in order to keep the books straight.

Oh I agree with that Trev B, Levy plainly drives a hard bargain. Ultimately though in football, over time, the top clubs pay top dollar. And as OTB suggests, I'm not sure either Lewis or Levy will want to.

You'll find a lot of Tottenham supporters who won't agree with that. They want to win the league but know they'll never spend sufficiently to do it under Lewis.

You say they've bought some shockers, and you're right, but unlike many teams Levy still seems to get top dollar even for their failures when they are moved on, they certainly don't seem to take much of a hit. Out of the Bale transfers, the only real success has been Eriksen, Soldado was probably the only significant loss.

It really puts things in perspective when we only managed to get 25m for a player who was, only a few months before, considered one of the most inform in Europe.

Hmmm...it's going well for Levy at present for sure but there's been a few twists and turns along the way and a fair slice of luck too. I'm not as convinced as some on here that all this will last.

They've had some luck in the transfer market but brought some shockers in too. Once the Argie fucks off to manage a proper team and they're paying for their new stadium, we'll see how they compete. Simple fact is, if they really want to play with the big boys they will, over time, have to pay the wages.

Spurs is run by a proper jew boy cockney from Bow and very good buisnessman.

Daniel Levy is an Essex boy, Joe Lewis has next to nothing to do with running Spurs he's just the majority investor in Tavistock which then in turn owns ENIC with Levy. Levy runs the club, and he has sadly done a very good job doing so, the bald cunt.

What pains me about D.S. and D.G. is that they are cheap, tacky and small-minded when they don't need to be and profligate when it is unnecessary.

Sullivan is far too hands-on with transfers and they seem to be tone deaf to the traditions of us fans.
When I see them sitting in the stands with those kids it makes me cringe.

I remember seeing a photo of Diafra Sakho signing an improved contract in Sullivan's kitchen, in his mansion.
That is so tacky. That is what offices are for.

For all their East End credibility they manage to annoy us without really trying, time and time again.
